Girona and Besalú: Jewish heritage

Two of the most charming medieval towns

On this tour we will visit two of the most charming medieval towns in Catalonia.

Girona, a one-hour drive from Barcelona, is home to a historic Jewish quarter, the Call, and its outstanding museum. This city has the old charm of the Middle Ages and it’s worth having a nice stroll around the old quarter with its narrow streets and steep stairs.

This tour is combined with a visit to the town of Besalú, just half an hour away from Girona. This little town, set on the Fluvià river, offers one of the most well-preserved and interesting medieval ensembles, including its old city walls and the Jewish mikveh, one of a very few of its kind still remaining in Europe.

Both towns are mostly pedestrian which allows you to explore on foot, certainly the best way to get to know a city and its culture and past.
