Montjuïc and Joan Miró Museum

Montjuïc, the hill overlooking the city

Montjuïc is a large, low-lying hill overlooking the harbour and the city centre. The hill can be reached using the escalators, the funicular railway or the Montjuïc Cable Car, a gondola lift. It is one of the green lungs of the city and hosts some of the venues built for the 1929 World’s Fair, such as the Mies van der Rohe pavilion, as well as the Olympic Ring, the scene of the 1992 Olympic Games. In addition to its parks and sports facilities, Montjuïc boasts some of the best museums in Barcelona, such as The National Art Museum (MNAC) or Caixa Forum.

On this tour we will visit the Miró Foundation that presents a wonderful collection of Joan Miró’s works, including a variety of sculptures, paintings, tapestries, etc.  The museum is housed in a magnificent contemporary building overlooking the city.
