The elegant Eixample district was created as an extension to the city in the second half of the 19th century. Conceived by Ildefons Cerdà as an egalitarian town-planning project, its unique grid presents a perfect symmetry of grand avenues and hidden inner courtyards. Here you will savour world-famous modernist architecture at its best: you will discover the renowned Paseo de Gracia and its Block of Discord, you will marvel at the outside of several iconic buildings designed by Doménech i Montaner, Puig i Cadafalch and Gaudí, and visit Casa Milà-La Pedrera or Casa Amatller from the inside. Exclusive boutiques and a celebrated dining scene will make this neighbourhood one of the highlights of your stay in Barcelona.
This is a three hour tour, but if you prefer a four-hour tour we will gladly include an additional visit to one of Gaudí’s masterpieces, be it the Sagrada Familia basilica, which is still under construction and is currently Spain’s most visited monument, or the wonderful Park Güell, originally designed as an English-style garden-city.
